If memory serves, the plan was for QQ to continue east and end at Cherry Street.

YES. That was and is the Plan. ""As part of the Quayside project, Waterfront Toronto will extend Queens Quay East to the planned Silo Street, including a new intersection with a realigned Parliament Street. To facilitate this work, the head of Parliament Slip will be filled in."

It will be an update version of QQW that has seen modifications with new improvements since it first built that will connect to Cherry St running along the north side of the silos. Parliament St will become a T street removing the current curve and there are plans for it in the Lower Don thread and a few other ones.

Until QQE gets built, it is preventing a few developments from moving forward with no road for them that are planned. It also prevents the QQE LRT moving forward as well. Then you have this site that will be redeveloped as well along with the new bridge to the new park over the Keating Channel.

It'll be awhile.

If funding dropped from the sky tomorrow, they're only at 60% design.

It wouldn't be before late '2026 at the earliest, in terms of a complete project, probably later.

Its possible there might be an 'interim' treatment w/some public access, but that's not known as yet.

New organization of programmatic features at Parliament Slip.

  1. WaveDeck & Sculptural Bench
    A scaled back WaveDeck with a smaller footprint. The space includes trees, more flexible open space, and a sculptural bench for gathering and watching the “theatre of the harbour."
  1. Canoe/Kayak Launch
    Fully accessible launch (on floating dock) with opportunities for private operators and canoe/kayak storage.
  1. Floating Village (Dock with Concessions)
    Expanded dock space to accommodate more small concessions (up to 17 vendors) and a potential electric boat share operator. The floating dock will also include patio seating for about 100 people, public washrooms and opportunities for outdoor firepits.
  1. Transportation Pier
    Paired with the swimming pools and modified to better facilitate multiple water-taxi operators and a possible future marine shuttle.
  1. Swimming Pools
    Relocated from the head of the slip to a floating barge sitting south of the Water’s Edge Promenade just to the west of the slip in Bayside. The barge will hold two pools—a deeper pool for lap swimming and play, and a smaller shallow hydrotherapy pool—as well as a sauna, a facilities building with changerooms, and potentially a snack bar. Locating the pools here will create an incomparable, immersive experience with panoramic views and a strong connection with the lake.
 
And a few renderings. I like that all of these elements seem to be self-contained and able to be funded separately so we could see some elements earlier. AFAIK they are placeholders - I wouldn't put any salt into the design.

The trees next to Queen's Quay are contemplated in the preliminary design.

Nothing is final at this stage, but its modeled to be similar to Queens' Quay West, but with several improvements in including better irrigation, better soil volume and salt mitigation, and snowmelt systems are being considered for some or all of the streetscape.
