It daylights not far to the east - it's got to come out of bedrock somewhere. I'm not sure there's much particular constraint about it being bedrock - you certainly see subways, and even stations, in other cities well above bedrock, and under water bodies. I doubt the tunnel to Billy Bishop is covered by bedrock either (though it's certainly very shallow there).FYI there is only one underground parking level in the building, so no, Metrolinx isn't taking it because the tunnel is going to be much, much deeper than the parking level. A century and a half ago this was the shore of Lake Ontario, the water table is high here (we've a sump pump under the garage to help keep it dry) so any tunnel boring will need to be through bedrock.
