Zanta says he's quitting Toronto, Moving to Brampton

Was the 'Shakey Lady' the one who walked around basically waving at everyone compulsively, usually dressed in witchy black?

Yes, that's her. Though I usually see her in a brown raincoat. I once watched her try to light a cigarette, which was accomplished after no small effort.

No, I don't think so. The "shakey lady" used to plant herself in a location. The slim, witch-ey looking woman in black can still be found wandering around shaking her arm in the air. The second lady has a mental health issue of some sort. Very sad.

When I think of the Shaky Lady I think of the woman that used to be on the northwest corner of Bay and Bloor. She sat on the sidewalk, looked ill, and shook uncontrollably. She had a cardboard sign claiming that she would pray for you, and looked like she was transplanted from the streets of Albania. She was exposed as a complete fraud by the Toronto Sun, and even featured on their front page. I have never seen her since.

We're talking about different people here. The Bay and Bloor fraud and the shakey witchy raincoat lady are different people.

Yes, I realize that. I know exactly who both are, I was just giving my version of the "Shaky Lady".

For my money, Slow Norris is more intriguing: What's he listening to on the radio that he keeps in the little black bag? What else is in the little black bag? Does he only hang out at Gap Kids? Does he dye his own hair, or get it done professionally - and if so, where? Why no sign, no attempted contact with the public? Why such a pained expression all the time? Why does he avoid eye contact?

Swedish Lady

Does anybody remember and know what became of the Swedish Lady who used to wear extravagant harem outfits (made by her) and carried a sign that said "King, NDP, Sweden"? She was immortalized by William Wrigley in his mural at the north east corner of Adelaide & Widmer.

Haven't seen her in many years. Maybe she died and went to socialist heaven, though I don't recall ever reading an obit anywhere.

Does he still have the attache case? There's a certain profile of homeless who affect the attache case. That would be my first instinct too under similar circumstances. I wonder whether some of the homeless cultivate their distinct personas?

Two other oddballs I've seen - the 65 year-old man in hot pants on Bloor; and the 70 year-old swedish ballerina (usually in tights) who works out at Bally's twice a day, or used to when I was there. Not homeless, but eccentric enough to qualify.
