World Cup Celebrations: Portugal & Angola

When I watched a World Cup game four years ago between Italy and South Korea, I had to run back and forth between Little Italy on College and Little Korea on Bloor to get reactions from fans. No running needed today... the supporters of Angola were watching the game right in the heart of the Portuguese Rua Acores neighbourhood, at Ossington and Dundas.

Aside from a stabbing that occurred at Grove Avenue and Dundas, much of the celebration has been loud and peaceful.

Star: Two stabbed in brawl after World Cup game

Final Score: Angola 0-1 Portugal

View inside the Acor Restaurant during the game. Snapped a couple of photos before some fans and the proprietor unceremoniously booted me out for taking photos of them. Goes to show how tense some people get watching these games.

iF, at Lakeview and Dundas, has a large patio with a big screen TV. Fortunately for those who couldn't find seats on the patio, the Lakeview Avenue Parkette is right next to the patio. Both the patio and the parkette were full of people watching the game.

Quazzzy!!! But you gotta love the atmosphere and energy going on when the WC is going on! It truly shows how multicultural Toronto is when you have fans of teams all over the world!

And St.Clair and Dufferin was crazy too after the game, there were people celebrating on the streets and the cars are honking like crazy, and its still going on!!

Nothing has the vibe of a World Cup. I'm in New York right now and it's the same sort of thing - people from all over the world cheering their countries on.

The atmosphere was great down on college for the game with people out on patios, packed bars etc. Although i must say teenagers still honking their horns and such well into the night started to get a little annoying. It's like dudes, that was Portugal's first game and against an inferior team and frankly their play was shaky at best.

Oooohhh, that's why it took an hour for a streetcar to show up at Dundas and Bathurst yesterday, causing me to be late for work.

Great pics of my nabe, Wylie.

All the more reason to celebrate this victory if they're not likely to win many more games.

great photos. too bad the game was so underwhelming.

Great pics. Hopefully Canada can make it back to the World Cup in our lifetimes.
