Woodbine Centre

Aging Rock band The Woodbines shuffle on

ETOBICOKE, ON, the rock world is in a sad state these days. Just after being threatened by the city for removal. the tractor trailers are back at the front of Woodbine Centre.
Being billed as part of a lucrative reunion tour, many fans speculate that the trailers are being used to load up the last liquidated 'songs' from the 1980's supergroup The
Woodbines.

While the aging Etobicoke band may be under new management , the lip-synced concert experience hasn't changed much. Same stores. Same junk. Same ol' song and
Dance that continues to enthrall the mall's sparse diehards on a regular basis.

Despite owing $300 million on their ten-year running 'I wanna build a Waterpark' tour, fans can still purchase items like Star Wars cake toppers, novelty security wands,
broken-ceramic deer heads, and rows of expired honey mustard. All at a 'honey' of a bargain.

Longtime shopper and mall historian Kade1064 couldn't be reached for comment on The Woodbines' farewell tour.

Looks like a store...that has a bigger location now (Where Bulk Barn) used to be...

is that true...or is that a myth
Yes. The mall is no longer owned by Chris Hinn. I believe the equity firm Romspen owns it. Avison Young is 100% managing it. They have signs in the mall. The mall is still up for sale. There are giant boards along Rexdale and Hwy 27 that say the mall is for sale.
I believe Chris still runs some of those stores (one being where Zellers was). He must lease them from the new owner.

Even being demoted to a store leaser, Chris Hinn still has a major presence in the Woodbine. One that many of us longtime shoppers would like to see removed.

Makes me wonder if other, more-reputable brands have considered leasing from the Woodbine's new management. Or has the fourteen year span of the Hinn saga
left a stigma on the Woodbine that will to take some time to remove.

It'll be around a while. The lease on the movie theatre might be a clue as to how much longer the mall will remain standing.
(to name one business. What about the Bay & Dollarama? Big name companies. Their leases have to be honoured before anything can be torn down)

Someone on Facebook has declared Woodbine Centre to be a dead mall:
