It's a question ... read literally... or rhetorically!

I assume this is the station at the foot of Donlands Ave.
Would that be Eastern Commerce school in the background?

Yes, that looks like it is Eastern Commerce in the background. Looks like the Joy Oil station is now occupied by a building containing, amongst others, the East York General Hospital's Withdrawal Management Centre.

i wonder what the inspiration was for this fanciful mini-castle form that they adopted? they look like miniature movie sets almost, or something from Grimm's Fairy Tales, if Grimm's had known about petroleum products. in any case vastly preferable to the monsters that bestride the landscape these days, which not only sell petroleum products--but are themselves made from petroleum products.

A few more old gas stations ... not Toronto, I admit, but interesting nonetheless, I hope ...

One from Ballinafad, Ontario, October 14, 1979, a Sunoco station ...

And one from Wroxeter, Ontario, July 31, 1988, a former Texaco station ... I think ...

And back to Toronto, here's a former Supertest station ... at least it was in the 1950s ... don't know what it became since then ... located at the north-east corner of Keele St and St Clair Ave W.

thanks for posting that! i remember this station well. it came down in the late 1990's, and it was as ramshackle as it is here until the day it was torn down. here's a photo looking south on Keele at St Clair. you can just see the distinctive Supertest maple leaf logo in the left top corner.

Thanks to 'collations' - for the 1986 photo - I was prompted to visit Danforth at Donlands today.
