Good 50s pics of TTC "Guides"...

WKL: Good find of 50s era pics of the TTC "Guides" that worked in the Subways in that era-I like the uniform design and I recall that the "Guides" I recall look polished and prim and I will mention quite attractive...
The hat in the center and right pics look like the hats later guides wore as far as I know. There must be 70s and 80s era pics of the "Guides" out there...

The TTC guides were women who sold tickets, gave information, and controlled crowds. They would cut off crowds boarding streetcars, so the streetcars could move on. They would have the operators open the rear doors, to allow passengers with transfers to board. Maybe its time to bring them back.

They might work back then, but today we are much more aggressive and gritty today and there will be plenty of crackheads who won't be pushed around by a gracious lady in a neat uniform. Any TTC guides will have to be big, burly bar bouncers. Imagine this, wearing a red uniform instead:
