^Oh, so streetcars had returned to Long Branch Loop?

Unless they have setup an area to maintained them at Humber Loop as well transport the LRV's by flat deck to it, impossible to having LRV's servicing Long Branch Loop with 400' of missing ROW and tracks today east of Park Side.

Then the tracks west of KQQR are being worked on.

Adjustment to match service [with projected ridership demand] = increasing/decreasing service frequency (and thus capacity) of routes to match demand (as seen from analyzed ridership statistics).

Service reliability improvements = adjusting run times (the time between timing points, which usually are stops at major intersections) of routes for schedules to better match driving conditions on the road. Will usually result in a service frequency decrease unless additional resources are added to the route as a result of the increased end-to-end driving time of the route.

A couple of minutes of sleuthing.........the 'sinkhole' is at Degrassi/Queen......

Right beside where Mx is set to begin work shortly to widen the rail bridge over Queen St for the Ontario Line......

Must have been a small sinkhole, service apparently resumed 41M ago.
Given that Gerrard is out of service due to construction things would have been very interesting for the streetcar network if they couldn't repair it quickly.

Either nothing from the Russell & Leslie could enter service or they'd have to find lots of parking spots at Roncesvalles, Hillcrest & Exhibition Loop for cars leaving service.
 
Sure, if you discount the lives lost to the drug making and smuggling enterprise. Demand fuels death, especially among those who are already worst off.

Good. They should be demotivated. Chasing people over drugs is a ludicrous waste of time and money, since drugs, in and of themselves, are not a criminal problem..


"The B.C. approach stands in vivid contrast to what Alberta is doing on the drug addiction front. The United Conservative Party government has said it will not contemplate decriminalization or open drug use, instead focusing on treatment programs largely based on a much-heralded system introduced years ago in Portugal (although Portugal also decriminalized the possession of all illicit drugs).

Based on recommendations set out in a 2019 report by the Alberta Mental Health and Addiction Advisory Council, the province drastically expanded treatment spaces, which can now serve up to 29,000 people annually. It also eliminated a $40-a-day user fee for a publicly funded treatment bed.

It has aggressively pursued treatment strategies for users in correctional facilities, and special attention has been given to First Nations communities. Alberta has specifically rejected the safer supply model B.C. has adopted, which offers free pharmaceutical opioids as an alternative to potentially deadly drugs purchased on the street. Instead, Alberta has made addiction treatment drugs such as methadone and Suboxone more accessible.

While Alberta will not abide the type of widespread open drug use now being witnessed in B.C., the UCP government does not believe in throwing all drug users in jail, either. Instead, it favours steering someone who might otherwise go to prison for using drugs into a treatment program.

It’s likely too early to say which program has the greatest chance of success. In 2022, overdose deaths fell by 1.5 per cent in B.C., and 12 per cent in Alberta. But that’s before B.C.’s decriminalization experiment began. More time is needed to get a true picture."

Would that be a "service adjustment", or a "service improvement"? (Sarcastic comment here)

Honestly, the TTC did cut service times too much on the subway ( and elsewhere)
Neither, because if you convince a politician to sign off on more money for something we call that a "photo-op"

I wonder will you be able to ride from Dufferin to long branch before 2030? It's been closed for several years of the last decade, yet people wonder why the public doesn't want LRT's

If work has taken place since my last visited like I think it should, the ROW should now have an concrete base to allow TTC to install the final missing tracks. Depending on a few things, streetcars should return to Long Branch in Aug or the beginning of September Any sooner would be a bonuses

This was the pits for the whole area considering the best TTC construction company was doing the work. It looks like with all the delays, the company made this a work as needed project to reduced their loses caused by so many beyond their control starting with the City.

The city still doesn't know how to coordinate things as well letting Toronto Hydro run wild in destroying timelines as they march to their own beat.

Then the residents need to wake up to the fact that the city has far too many infrastructure problems that are over 100 years old that needs to be replace yesterday. It will effect their travel time, especially the car folks.with transit taking the back seat.

TTC can cause a lot of their own problems that turns people off using transit

Beginning Sun., June 18, TTC bus and streetcar service will be adjusted to accommodate several construction projects in the east end of the City, with major changes at Broadview Station and the Lower Gerrard and Coxwell intersection.

On Mon., June 12, TTC staff will be making a presentation during the Board Meeting on the upcoming service changes, and alternate routes available to customers.

Following the presentation to the Board, Fort Monaco, TTC’s Chief of Infrastructure and Engineering and Laurence Lui, Head of Service Planning and Scheduling, will be available to answer questions from the media on the upcoming service changes.

Details are as follows:

I didn't realize Laurence was head of Service Planning now! I don't know how I missed that.
