TTC: Customer Service

MT has being using artic's since the 80's starting with GMC buses.

MT has only getting 10 years out of the artic's until they retired the 2001's that saw 11-12 years. They keep 2 of them as long as possible due to problems with the fleet.

MT is keeping 40's for 15 years down from the 18 years and up from the 12 years that was instated a few years ago.

TTC find ways to reinvent the wheel for no reasons other than saying we can do it better with poor luck and over price than the market.

TTC will find a way to keep the artic's for 18 years at great cost.

The TTC relying on another system's testing? They'll find an excuse to delay...."Mississauga has a much different climate and user base than Toronto"!!

Or something more mundane like a different and more expensive maintenance program.

Except I am not sure if one should shackle the expectations by imposing a 18 year lifespan (or a lifespan of any kind) - the true effectiveness should be considered combining capital and operating cost.

I also think that customer experience should be factored in as well. It is mind boggling to see so many medium sized buses, even during off peak periods, packed as tightly as they are. The hard truth is that Toronto has long since outgrown its 40 foot bus fleet.

Is it known when the new signage will expand to the rest of the system?

Hopefully not for a while, it needs significant revisions. But to answer your question honestly: signs are only to be replaced with regular maintenance. So expect to see the haphazard mix of new and old signage for many years to come.

How can we expect better service from the TTC is only two (2) of the city Councillors on the TTC board ride on public transit on a regular basis?

Wow. Not even on a weekly basis? I thought the article would say not on a daily basis, but not even once a week is bad. Take one weekend trip on the subway or go for lunch when you're working downtown, it's not that difficult to get one trip a week.

At least Tory & Byford take it regularly.

Unfortunately, a regular TTC user does not necessarily bring better service. Sincerely,

I've noticed that was absolutely no apology over yesterday's extended signal delay on Line 1 - maybe they will lump it in given how things are turning out today?
