Poor Leon. Killed on August 21st 1940 by Ramon Mercader.

Those Mercaders. So naughty.

My birthday! Interesting that Che first met Fidel in Mexico City too...it was quite the nest of Latin American radicals in the day...

Yeah. Luis Buñuel was there too - or maybe later in the 50s. And Frida + Diego.

I only recently found out that Leon Trotsky was born ~ Lev Davidovich Bronstein.

I've never met a Trotsky, but I did have dinner last night with a Mercader. He didn't have an ice pick with him.

I went to art school with a Kafka.

My favourite name at the moment is: K.Y Ho. He's been mentioned in the business pages quite a lot.

Meh, although I do like some socialist leaders, I have no reason to believe that Trotsky would have been much better than Stalin.

I think Party boy Vyacheslav Molotov would've been the best of all - cocktails all round!

* Buy a bottle of your favourite wine.
* Wrap a clean white napkin around, and serve with a delicious meal.

* Fill the empty bottle with a generous serving of petroleum
( substitute: methanol or ethanol if not available ).
* Re-cork the bottle.
* Soak the napkin in petroleum
( substitute: methanol or ethanol if not available )
* Wrap the napkin tightly and securely around the neck of the bottle.
* Light the napkin.
* Retire to the smoking room.

^hahhaah yeah

It's hard to believe Molotov lived to be 96 after all he's gone through: World War I, the Russian Revolution, the great purge of the Red Army, World War II, getting kicked out of the party by Khurshchev, etc.
