Train Spotting

Some unique historical shots here as it's on the south side of the Union Station shed. Not that many pictures from this location. Must bring back memories, eh @crs1026

Via trains staged at the Bathurst North yard on Saturday afternoon, October 18, prsumably due to ongoing Metrolinx Go project weekend track works.
That is correct, it was because access to the TMC was blocked off.

For the same reason, the equipment for the Canadian was deadheaded to and from CN's MacMillan Yard.

As a PS - not sure if I told this story before, have mercy on an old guy? - one time long ago I had to make a work trip to Pennsylvania Power and Light in Allentown PA. My return flight from Philadelphia was a commuter that stopped in Buffalo. It was not a busy flight, and I noticed a group of similarly dressed businessmen (railway official gear - long dark raincoats and fedoras) who staked out seats at the back and talked business among themselves. The group seemed to be deferring to one older and somewhat grim fellow who took a 3-seat row to himself. Couldn't place the guy, but he looked familiar, and sure seemed important.
As we made the approach to Buffalo airport, the pilot made a banked turn that gave a wonderful view of the Frontier Yard diesel shop with track after track of shiny blue power. I was in railfan heaven, loving the view.... until the old guy in back looked out the window and went nuts, with a long angry stream of profanity that clearly frightened his entourage.
Turned out it was Stanley Crane, Conrail CEO.....whose point was that if that many locos were sitting idle at the diesel shop, an awful lot of investors' capital was being squandered, and it was evidence that utilization is in the ditch..
So when you see a shot with that many parked locos, it may be interesting.... but to the railway, someone is having a bad day.
