to be in Toronto, a thousand miles away from the closest places it would normally be seen.

Its certainly outside of the typical native range map, but well w/in the normal 'sightings' range:

Some good news is now public; Toronto has its first nesting pair of Bald Eagles in decades.

This pair are parents now; Two Eaglets.

I can see this traffic light from my window. Haven't looked recently, but sometime in the last couple of hours they have moved on. Hopefully they found something nice.

Peregrine falcons
"Like all falcons, the Peregrine's beak has a tomial tooth, a triangular notch on the upper mandible. This "tooth" allows the falcon to quickly sever its prey's spinal column at the base of the skull, killing it quickly."
I think that is different from hawks, who seem to just squeeze and puncture with their talons for few minutes, then sometimes start eating their prey when it's incapacitated but not necessarily dead yet.
