It's funny how this area, being the periphery of three cities in southern York Region is sort of becoming the "downtown" of the region because of the two major crossroads in the area, spurred on with the rapidways and the proposed subway extension.
 
I wouldn’t say that. VMC is on track to be more of a real downtown quicker than here or downtown Markham. Give it a decade and VMC is going to be huge, it's already way above growth projections.

It's becoming that because they planned it that way. No different than NYCC or SCC.

It is different because it's the collective periphery of three cities, not tied to any specific one, nor is it actually planned as a "Downtown York Region". It's an anomalous situation, even though it is appropriate.
