Curious if ASPEN will start digging for the south towers Spring 2020 or market and sell Historic Lofts First ?
This project needs to get going......It's been Selling since late 2017
I received some updates from my friend regarding the building. She said people are still living there. It sounds like they will be there for a while longer. Apparently they've been living with no heat but still holding out (few space heaters here and there and I am told it's not enough) The city is well aware of it so they can't issue any permits for the time being. I am also told there are multiple violations and talks of fraudulent paperwork by Aspen Ridge Homes to evict people and the issue now has gone up the chain to the federal government, aside from the provincial courts and the housing critic and as a result, Aspen Ridge Homes are facing some large fines. I am also told there's talks of class action lawsuit. It seems like this project will take a lot longer than predicted but also they might never get their permits due gross negligence and violations. There have been quite a few condo cancellations in the city this past year due permits, so I wouldn't be surprised. I'll update everyone as I get more info.

New docs have been submitted early May 2020 in support of Site Plan Approval. It looks like heritage part will be retail on ground floor with residential on top. There will also be a total of 21 rental units (including affordable, mid-range, live-work/artist) within the development - I am assuming that this has been added as part of a court order or mediated settlement with the government and the former/current tenants who took the developer to court, and that the construction permits are now a matter of satisfactory paperwork.

Excavator on site. It looks to have taken down a portion of the building on the south west side of the building. I have attached a photo of the previously existing building for reference.
