Sidewalk on Wellesley is finally open.
Not sure how a 60 storey skyscraper "screams suburbia", but whatever floats your boat.I've never been a huge fan of this building. To me, it (and especially the podium) screams suburbia.
Yup, the glass was a miss on this one. If they'd gone with the curved glass on the podium and something a bit more opaque on the balconies, this would have been a winner.Love the massing but flat glass on the curved podium curbs my enthusiasm ....
they are planter boxes too which should protect the trees from salt buildup.Amazing what a few well placed trees can do. That sidewalk instantly morphs from uninviting to a solid 7/10. It's too bad they opted for low brow concrete sidewalks but at least the planters are on the 'right' side buffering pedestrians from the road. Hopefully in 20-30 years they'll rip out the concrete and install something attractive.
I'd like to see a cross-section of these planters. It would be lame if they were just concrete boxes, and didn't have subterranean silva cells or something to support larger tree growth.they are planter boxes too which should protect the trees from salt buildup.
