I think what is most disappointing about this building is that because it's called the "Waterfront Innovation Centre," you expect something bold and creative. If they called it the "Lakeshore Corporate Centre," its sterile office park design wouldn't be as bothersome.

Oh sure, it's a little disappointing to see some just nice industrial- looking buildings here in the waterfront zone given the enticing name. And this phase of the project might be the best we get.

I'd argue that Aqualuna, Aquabella and The Arbour will be the best we'll get in Bayside. This project could be a nice filler project if they don't cheap out on materials. I am actually looking forward to the density even through the design was a missed opportunity.

The "density" would have come here regardless if it was some other developer, or in this case Menkes, especially with this piece of prime real estate. They are just doing us another disservice in bringing another uninspiring and generic piece that will water down this section of the waterfront.

Menkes is a solid builder but my goodness they build some of the most boring, mundane buildings in the city. I'd call Harbour Plaza a fluke really because it doesn't fit with the rest of the stuff they do.

In a decade, there'll be some notable architectural gems on the waterfront, including The Arbour right next door and these will just be filler. Too bad about Sugar Beach though.
