Are there going to be any storefronts facing the Railpath? It would be unfortunate to have another looming blank wall along the Railpath, like that building adjacent to the path at Bloor GO Station.

Yesterday. I love how small pockets of retail along Wallace - and soon this new street - animate the neighbourhood. It definitely breaks the monotony of Retail Street vs Residential Street we often see in Toronto.

Here's how Wallace Walk (and the new end of the bridge) looked earlier this evening:

I hope the cinderblocks aren't the final cladding along the Railpath. The Railpath is arguably the most important public space in the neighbourhood. The buildings that face it should have architectural facades, not mere back walls. Most of the buildings that currently face it were built when the Railpath was just railway tracks and architectural design didn't matter. But the Railpath exists, and the west-facing facades shouldn't have ugly cinder block walls.

Overall a pretty handsome project. Really like the red brick with black windows look. Classic look that seems to never fail.

I remember how it seemed to take forever for the businesses to fill in the similar building on Wallace Ave. just east of the Barrie Line tracks. I was worried they would sit vacant forever. But now it's a happening little strip, with Halo Brewery, Synergy Sports Medicine, Cafe Neon, etc... I'm hoping for the same here.

I thought I noticed at least a couple of places with business names in the windows and stuff being done inside, though I haven't walked by in like a month... The George Chuvalo Community Centre at least is well underway and already has programming running in there.
