yes, sorry, you are right. I've only ever gone as far as Pickering on Lakeshore East, and at Pickering they are wood. using streetview I can see concrete ties further east though.

GO always uses wood ties.

but why? It feels like XIX century option... Tradition? From Wikipedia:

Concrete ties are cheaper and easier to obtain than timber and better able to carry higher axle-weights and sustain higher speeds. Their greater weight ensures improved retention of track geometry especially when installed with continuous-welded rail. Concrete ties have a longer service life and require less maintenance than timber due to their greater weight which helps them remain in the correct position longer. Concrete ties need to be installed on a well-prepared subgrade with an adequate depth on free-draining ballast to perform well.

are you talking about airport GO buses or the private buses that serve downtown hotels?

If it is GO why would they stop so far in advance of the UPE service being started.

It's the private "airport express" bus. The 192 rocket won't stop operating even after the UPX opens.

Here is the actual story. The blame is being laid on popularity of Billy Bishop airport, fewer passengers using the buses and all of the construction causing operational issues......it is noted that if not for those factors, UPE would have likely killed the service next year anyway.

Good, and nor should it. The biggest criticism of the UPX is that it's a luxury train service not intended to actually help alleviate congestion or shorten anyone's commute in Toronto. So as time goes on the 192 will only increase in ridership, and maybe one day that'll bring the public to start putting pressure on for an Eglinton West to the airport extension.
