i highly doubt that there will be a high speed rail line from toronto to montreal via the georgetown corridor through weston.
Will see.....so if there is...then what?

No ... it would be from Toronto to Detroit. That's exactly the corridor VIA was studying at one point for high speed rail.i highly doubt that there will be a high speed rail line from toronto to montreal via the georgetown corridor through weston.

why would they route it that way? wouldn't a HSRL from toronto to montreal start at union station and go east along the same route as lakeshore east?
There would be NO ARL, meaning the GO Train would service the route and Weston. The GO Train would eliminate the need for the ARL.
Its not just about Weston, its about the entire corridor and affected communities.
Electrify the line.
I doubt it - by the time that VIA gets to that point, there won't be any capacity left on any route into Toronto, and they'll have to tunnel similiar to the HS1 line into St. Pancras ... but we're talking decades away here ... by then the Westonites will be protesting the nuclear generators on the trains ...Great. An opportunity for the NIMBYs to hold not just the GTA but half the population of Canada hostage.
More issues due and more groups forming due to the ARL Metrolinx proposal.....time to rethink this proposal.

^ That's a sensible and fair suggestion. Too bad the WCC probably would not accept it.
you can't blame them though. their demands such as electrification, more stops and a lower fare via a public not private service are not that bad. with all those tracks and a proper setup of switching they can probably run a express (with premium fare) plus a local service with stops at major arteries (with an every day affordable fare) from union to the airport and make everybody happy. electrification would probably solve alot of noise issues and decking over would allow for the reclamation of space which could be used for public use such as parkland and a trail as someone suggested in this thread.
I hope someone starts a 'stop the WCC' group. I am willing to bet that it would outnumber this page here.
