Vaughan TYSSE: Highway 407 Station | ?m | ?s | TTC | AECOM

I suppose. I agree that until the 407 BRT is in place, that station will likely see less than stellar ridership. However, I think the Park N Ride planned for there now will create some decent ridership levels.
Don't forget that GO's current 407 services are approaching crypto-BRT service levels already. There isn't going to be a magic big bang moment when the transitway comes into existence and ridership appears; rather, GO will keep adding service to the 407 until the ability to use the main freeway is maxed out and there's a need to switch to a grade-separated option, currently forecast for post-2021.

I remember reading somewhere that the boarding/alighting volumes of the GO bus stops at York University already rank it up there with some of the middle-of-the-pack GO railway stations. If you assume that all the GO ridership will shift from the middle of York to this station on Day 1 of the subway being open (fare integration is presumably going to be a factor here) then you start with a pretty heavily-used transfer point from the get-go.

From what I remember reading, I think that was the case. It would run on 1 side of the highway, occasionally flipping back and forth depending on what side the next station needs to be on. With stops so far apart, I don't think it'll be flipping back and forth that often.
The technically-preferred alignment of the transitway is here, from the last round of PICs. Dunno if it changed at all between PIC#2 and the EA's completion. In the 'station concepts' document you can see the proposed interface with the subway station.

Here's a description of the Transitway route from YorkRegion.com:

The road will travel below Hwy. 400, remaining underground through the 407 Transitway station and Jane Street. It then comes above ground, crossing the CN rail yard bridge, crossing over Hwy. 407 east of Keele Street. It enters the future GO rail Concord station (on the Barrie line) and then runs between Hwy. 7 and Hwy. 407, stopping at Bathurst Street, where a parking lot will be built between Bathurst and the Hwy. 7 ramp. A pedestrian bridge will allow a connection across Hwy. 7.
The route remains between the two highways, heading underground and curving north into its biggest station, Yonge Street. The station is expected to be between the future subway stop at High Tech Road, and the GO station.
It heads back between the highways, crossing over Hwy. 407 en route to the next stop, on Leslie Street, just south of the 407.
Next, it travels over Hwy. 404, but below the ramps to the 407, remaining above ground until entering the next station, at Woodbine Avenue/Roddick Road.
Once again, it comes above ground and crosses Hwy. 407, east of Warden Road, before dipping underground one last time at the Markham Centre station, which will interface with the GO Stouffville line and Viva routes.

The EA was officially approved last week, despite complaints by Markham and Vaughan.

^^^ Interesting note. The BRT will follow the CN Rail ROW to the west of hwy 400 running closer to Steeles than 407 apparently.

There has been some construction just south of the 407 on Jane; it seems that a bridge is being built. Perhaps the access bridge to the 407 station. If I get a chance this weekend I will stop by the construction site and take some photos!

April 14

Not much to see yet. I look forward to seeing what the glass will look like, which is currently under wraps.

This station being a giant white elephant already (even with GO buses potentially relocating here from York University), the GIANT "knockout panel" for the 407 Transitway is going to be a giant eyesore/waste of space/passenger movement capacity (even though it only affects a few hundred passengers a day):

Just my opinion though.

Oh, and I saw Andy Byford at this station yesterday:

Hey @Marcanadian may I pick your brain as to why this station is your favourite over Pioneer Village?

This is coming from someone who has only experienced it through your photos :)
