What's not clear to me is the set up for the GO Station at Sheppard West - there doesn't appear to be a rendering for the GO platform - I'm assuming the train will stop at Sheppard West. As it is, it looks like the GO platform would be uncovered judging by the one rendering showing the GO trains above the subway station. Any info on that?

The renderings I have seen show three railway tracks with fully covered side platforms serving the two outside tracks.
Here we go, another station study on the Spadina Extension. This time: Downsview Park.
Downsview Park? Not Sheppard West?
Since the planning of the extension began, the working name for the first station north of Downsview has been Sheppard West. It makes some sense: it fits with the Spadina line practice of adding "West" to stations serving the same east-west arterials as the Yonge line.
It doesn't make everyone happy though: people riding the Spadina line in the future and looking for Downsview Park, or the new neighbourhood developing around it, might get off at Downsview only to find they are not too close to their destination, and GO, which will also serve the new station with a new stop on their Barrie line, do not have a Sheppard station themselves, and do not want to call this one Sheppard West.
The plan, not yet finally approved, calls for a bit of a swap: before the new station opens, Downsview will be renamed Sheppard West, allowing the new station to be named Downsview Park. Even though TTC online references to the new station still call it Sheppard West, for the purposes of this article, we'll go with the name change plan.
So, to start, the station, with the same team that is putting Highway 407 Station together - AECOM as Prime Consultant – Engineering & Architecture : Project Management, Aedas as Design Architect, and PB (Parsons Brinckerhoff) as Design Engineers - from the air:

One reason for that is that Panya Clark Espinal's artwork has not been incorporated into the renderings of the station yet. You may be familiar with Espinal's stunning "floating" designs at Bayview station on the Sheppard line. At Downsview Park, Espinal will be installing "Spin", five circles which will float in different parts of the station.

So that's the station as it will be when it opens... amidst fields. Give it a dozen years though, and Downsview Park station will sit amidst two new neighbourhoods. The location of the station can be seen in red, at the top of the map.

East of the station will be the Chesswood neighbourhood. You can see Downsview airport's remaining runway in the background. The airport will keep building heights in the area low.

And a final image for this station? A quick look at the same image as above, except showing the station before value engineering was applied to it. What would the interiors of the more expensive plan have looked like? It would be fun to turn those up some day! (Anyone have them?)

They should change the name of Downsview to Sheppard West now so that we have roughly 4-5 years for the public to get adjusted to the change...otherwise
When the name swap happens, there will be many riders that will end up at the new Downsview station rather than the current...and not by choice!

What IS happening with the station names? This was on a TTC agenda just before the election - as was the dispute over what to call the VMC station - and it got postponed a month and then Ford got elected and now it's just fallen off the agenda. I seem to recall the report saying they needed to finalize names soon because of the contruction RFPs etc. but who knows...
I think they should rename Downsview station to Sheppard West. Although that may confuse people once the Sheppard Line is extended further west (I'm on the Sheppard line, bound for Sheppard West???).
As for the "centres" thing, I think they should stick to what they established with STC. <insert area name> Centre. Vaughan Centre. Scarborough Centre. Etobicoke Centre (should it ever be built). North York Centre.

They'll change the name to Sheppard West, and then what happens when eventually the Sheppard line is extended to it, change it's name again maybe. Sheppard West Allen or Sheppard West Dufferin perhaps.

When the Sheppard line extends west, it would be called Allen, since Allen Road is the closest Arterial that passes over the station

Silly to rename the station twice, and as already stated Sheppard West was outvoted at the time. Maybe have the new station still be Downsview Park and the current Downsview can change to Downsview Central.

As long as it doesn't get changed to Sheppard West, since the Sheppard Line station at the same location couldn't have that name, and then they'll have to change it again.
