I could have sworn this was the building that one of the kitchen places in King st was moving down to. Maybe I’m wrong, I think I’m the only one who mentions this on the thread. I just remember hearing about it and shaking my head, because I couldn’t see the Esplanade as THE place for luxury kitchen design.
Are you thinking of the House of Rohl, a high-end kitchen showroom that opened in the St. Lawrence condo tower at 158 Front East, on the northwest of Front and Sherbourne? Some variation of this shop used to be on King East, I think.

You could be right. I could have sworn it was esplanade though, because the thought stuck in my head was “what the hell fits (business wise) on esplanade?”. All the ones we’ve had for decades seem to fit, but I have a hard time imagining what could pay the sq footage of the new retail that would serve the Esplanade neighbourhood.

Maybe it’s too blue sky, but it would be interesting to see the city do a pilot where they get a shared commercial kitchen going and cleared by health dept- and then cycle through some local food stalls. Get some of these home cooks selling from home into a proper space, learn the ins and outs of commercial food prep and start some businesses.

The dismal failure of Aura’s underground haunts me, and makes me think about how failing retail can be sparked to life with some govt help to form incubators.

There were definitely signs for a new kitchen/interior place at the NE corner of Frederick and Esplanade with big green window wraps. I am not sure if they are still there

The north east corner of Frederick & The esplanade is not part of T&S.

If you mean Lower Sherbourne and The Esplanade, there is a Golf Place being fitted out just up from the corner but the corner retail unit (which was intended as cafe of some sort) remains for lease:

You are absolutely right, my bad. What I meant was the space at Frederick and Front (NE corner). I know it also isn't a part of T&S
