Uptown looks absolutely huge/tall! Right now, it looks even taller than ROCP

It looks like all the residential floors are poured... can we be seeing the mechanical roof structure very soon?

Can't believe how high up this thing is !

Oh, I discovered the best place to shoot this thing from--not gonna spill the concrete 'til I get the shot. (I missed it today sadly, damn bus.)

How many people will be moving in to Uptown and Crystal Blu when all is said and done? 2000?

I do like how the base of Crystal and the black marble on Uptown are the same height. It adds to the context. It's just too bad the black marble couldn't wrap around the entire base of Uptown.

The nasty precast wall facing Yonge basically undermines the heritage buildings there. It makes people want to see the demolition of those lowrise buildings to hide it. Walls like that one facing Victorian low-rise streets should be one the first things absolutely rejected by the design review panel.

They should turn the precast wall into a living all. Put trellises up the blank wall and grow climbing plants up it. It would look gorgeous and add to the value of the surrounding neighborhood.

Naw, it avoids the overly faux look by avoiding the doodads. I'm surprised how much I'm liking this one... the massing and setbacks are great.

Agreed. Instead of a knockoff, it's looking like a solid, modern interpretation. I don't like the giant blank wall along the base but otherwise this is becoming quite a pleasant surprise.

Brilliant shot Ramako! Uptown was a game changer in that shot! ^^^ what a difference without it!... once Four Seasons, U condos, and 1 Bloor are built, this side of town will have a much larger feel to it!

Rising into the open air.

Making the corner.

Reaching for it.

Pulling it in.

Snug against the pillars.

Unhooking it.

The cable is free for the next lift.

Speaking of the next lift, I have pics of that going up the other side...

So, the cable has been grasped again back down at terra firma.

Time to attach the hooks to the embedded looped cable handles.

The piece is pulled away from the other precast on the delivery vehicle.
