Those corners are sorta cantilevers in a way. It's amazing how that strengthens the building to my understanding of that.
 
It's an elegant solution, but must cost a pretty penny man hour wise to implement. The simpler solution would be to make the concrete floor plates considerably thicker with extra reenforcing but alas less floors with a 308m max height. This building is so far a class act...
