Toronto The Britt Condos | 142.03m | 41s | Lanterra | Arcadis

That lobby is just...not good.

I will be surprised if this one gets off the ground. Over $800 sq/ft? Here? This is not Yorkville. I'm guessing the ceilings are 8 ft, based on when this was built.

I just hope Lanterra doesn't start dismantling the facade of the tower now.

^ ^ I'd suggest that there are many better ways to judge a person than by their taste, as tempting as it may be to those of us who are involved in hobbies and careers that involve aesthetic sense. Judging people by anything material is a bit unfair. /end off-topic thought.

SPIRE:

I disagree - we are a material species and we judge constantly whether we admit to it or not. The more important thing is how we act after arriving at our judgement.

For goodness' sake. My closest friend bar none is a superb specimen of a homo sapiens in every way, but you wouldn't know it from his taste in architecture or interior design.

Kitty:

I don't think a judgement that an individual had horrible taste by itself allows us to make judgement about the individual as a person :)

Not a touch of irony anywhere in the composition.

Perhaps the most interesting thing here is the disjuncture with the proposed "modernist" exterior--almost as if the latter would have been Chedingtonista schlock, but the backlash in places like Urban Toronto forced them to opt for "modern" drag instead...

Or more likely, the interior designers did their own work, and the architects did theirs. I doubt the Lanterra pointed at the building and said to the architect, "Can you make that neo-classical for us?".

Perhaps.....but wouldn't both (the inside and outside) guys have presented more than one vision/choice to the owners? Isn't it, then, an exercise in choice to pick designs that a) work on their own and b) work together?

The Britt - Brochure and Floor Plans and Price List Links

The Britt was unveiled by Lanterra, in London England on June 17th (the day before the sale of the building closed). They apparently flew in all their top real estate agents to present to potential foreign buyers.
