Kitchener The Breithaupt Block (Phase 3) | ?m | 11s | Perimeter | Martin Simmons

More height and finishes, it's starting to poke above from many angles around the previous phases.

Just a single snap tonight as it was stormy.

Nice! That platform is sort of like a memory lane for me. Took the Via train to Toronto quite a few times in my days there, back before GO extended train service to Kitchener.

These photos I took today aren't very high quality, but I thought this view point through downtown was cool to see. The Young Condos midrise (the grey on the right) also is of great scale matching the Walper Hotel.

Also apologies for this rainy windshield shot (I was not driving) just to show the building has gained a few floors since the last up close photos.

I will stop for some more comprehensive photos soon.

Also weirdly the boarded up McDonald's here is in fact still owned by McDonald's.

One exciting milestone I didn't get to capture for this project is the skybridge between the second phase and third phase was installed over the weekend. Will have to go by to get good photos of it as it looked more impressive than I thought it would.

Instagram Video.

As promised a new photo series showing off the connecting bridge in detail plus some other surprises. Taken last night.

Starting off with the bridge itself, it uniquely declines/inclines to reach the equivalent 3rd floor between Phase 2 and Phase 3.

The additional shape gives the bridge a great amount of presence which really will make the buildings look and feel like a whole complex. Also just appreciate some shape and creativity.

I quite like this photo as it shows off the layers of construction happening around the area.

In other news, tower glass with preinstalled fins is now on the backside of the tower. Can't judge the tint or anything without daylight, but I'd assume it'll be close to the glass colour on Phase 2.

Extra context here, the parking garage that was originally gonna be next to phase three was relocated to 2 Stewart Street to make room for another *rumor: 4 storey* office building. These photos are from the 2 Stewart parking garage site.

There's no renders of it from what I'm aware. The original design was supposed to contain commercial, not sure if this new garage location means that's axed though...

Google in the distance.

The parkade beside the Breithaupt buildings was actually cancelled because of community opposition to the potential traffic. I believe the net result is that space can now be used for a 4 storey building, but that definitely wasn't the goal/reason it was moved.

The parkade being built will not have any retail. It''s going to be pretty isolated away from any thoroughfares, with motor vehicle access limited to the the ends of Stewart and Joseph streets. (although I suppose the Iron Horse will now run right past it, so it will see pedestrian and cyclist traffic).

Photos of the building from the north east showing the underground parking access; glassed in interestingly, the nearby parking structure being built (steel structure, so going up fast), and a view of the Iron horse Trail Cherry Park connection path under construction.

The path isn't part of the Breithaupt project directly, but it's being partly funded by Perimeter, and provides a somewhat more direct walking path between the office tower and the parking structure.
I just tried walked it (there's a single fence with an easy to squeeze through gap just above king), it's not paved yet, so it's super icy, and will be a muddy trap in a few weeks.
