The site you've highlighted was always meant to be the new station location (see below). Maybe the owners are trying to do a TOD initiative like what is happening on the Ontario Line. Good find!

Not a prospective station site to which I had paid close attention.

Curious that Mx hasn't bought it yet.

I wonder if Mx is looking to pull a Mimico here and get a developer to build the station for them?

If not, the land may get considerably more expensive by the time Mx goes to buy it.
 
It's amazing what rounded corners and somewhat different balcony railing treatment can do, these look pretty sharp. A note to all developers, it's not that difficult to make interesting buildings. Of course execution is another thing, so hopefully they don't cheap out on the bronze and/or switch to square corners.
