Makes me cringe. It reminds me of the time when Doug Ford wanted to sell the naming rights to subway stations.Oh, and the official terminal name is "SmartCentres Terminal at Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station".

Is that really any longer than, say, from the Finch subway to where the buses are? Or Downsview? Or most stations?
They had a "blank slate" within the framework of Smart Centres owning the land; that's how they negotiated the location of the terminal and the name. The name wasn't sold, per se, since they "donated" the land. That said, it's kind of stupid and I hope there won't be penguins on it. But there probably will be. but no one will call it that stupid name any more than people say, "Hey, let's go shopping at CF Toronto Eaton Centre!"
I don't know why they didn't just expropriate (and YR decided to pony up the $ to create an underground transfer, which one would think is laudatory) though I seem to recall it was a decision made relatively late in the game but, the perspective of the photo notwithstanding, I don't know how big a deal that really is especially (as Megaton pointed out) since the Viva terminal is the main transfer point. Of course, you only have to go back a page or two here to see the complaints about that so...pick your poison.

New subway names:
•Sephora West
•KFC Double Downsview Park
•Merrill Lynch West
•York Universal Studios
•Pioneer (as in the electronics company) Village
•Peugeot 407
•Vaughan Metro (as in the grocery store) Centre
Given that GO Transit has confirmed new stations, Kirby GO station would obviously be named after whatever is the newest Kirby video game (and would be renamed every time a new Kirby video game is released).
I was just using the humorous "corporate" TTC subway map with corporate subway station names and continuing its theme. What about renaming Christie as Porn Theatre station in honor of the Metro theatre?

Not when it comes to transfers between two surface transit routes. How about if Bathurst station had a bus to streetcar connection that required people to walk over 300 metres in an underground tunnel. This is the same thing we can also look forward to at Pioneer Village station, where someone decided it was a good idea to put the TTC and YRT buses in their own separate terminals. But at least they are just across the street from each other, rather than two blocks apart.
Shows how disjointed the region is. They make things difficult for the travelling public because they don't want people travelling from York Region to get onto the subway without paying a double fare. Most other places you would have one bus terminal with different buses service that one transit terminal. But here in Toronto, we always look for ways to make travelling difficult.
