I'm sure the city will wait another 30 years until the Queensway has exploded with the new developments that are coming down the pipeline before they'll consider an LRT.
At one time, the city would have laid streetcar tracks BEFORE the development came in.

Looking west from Woodbine and Danforth in 1915, with fresh streetcar tracks and the overhead wires completed. Streetcars ran on this stretch for 51 years before being replaced by the subway.
 
They just expanded the malls footprint.
I think that they should eventually go further than this, by pushing all the parking underground and building over those empty lots in the rear/south while at the same time tearing down and redeveloping all the parking structures (which seem like a waste of space that disconnects the mall from the neighborhood and parks being built around it)......in addition, I'd like to see someone redevelop the Toys "R" Us lands, and those lands on the northeast of Queensway and N Queen St (don't believe I've seen a proposal for anything north of Queensway that' east of N Queen St)

.....the sooner they propose these other developments the better, before people start moving in and complaining about all the development/traffic (though I can see why everyone wants a subway station just with the 3 proposed phases)
 
With more people being added to the Sherway Gardens areas (not just the high-rises, but the expansion of the Queensway Health Centre), we cannot expand the Gardiner Expressway, Queen Elizabeth Way, and 427 for those new people. We need to improve the the public transit access to the neighbourhood, now not later. That means giving public transit the priority it needs.

The TTC should extend Line 2 to Sherway and stronger commuter rail service should be a priority. If the Missing Link is ever built (hopefully) and Metrolinx takes control of the Milton line, they should consider branching it at Dixie, going underground, hitting a new Sherway hub then traversing Queensway underground until Humber Bay then using Lakeshore West till Union. Offers a more direct route into downtown from south Etobicoke and also Mississauga, especially Square One area. It would also be more viable than say, extending Line 2 from Sherway to Square One which IMO would be ridiculous.

Couldn't agree more. Ideally, Ontario line should run along Queensway and meet extended Line 2 here.

We'll be lucky to see the Bloor-Danforth line extended here, let alone any of the other extensions... but I would like to see that happen. Not that I am all that hopeful of anything for a while as our transit building budgets are no doubt past what is actually affordable with everything that has currently been announced, and the planned lines that are still waiting for their funding. To call for either an LRT along the Queensway or an extension of the Ontario Line along the Queensway to Sherway are both intriguing ideas… but which politicians are going to campaign on raising your taxes so that those can be built. In the meantime, we have an infrequent bus along The Queensway which will have to grow in popularity in coming years, significantly, and get to the point of being untenable in keeping up with the demand through buses before anyone in power considers an LRT let alone another subway. If you want to further the cause of better transit to Sherway, then pester all the appropriate politicians to get the Bloor-Danforth extension back on track before you bother them about fantasy projects that aren't on anyone's horizon.

The 80 QUEENSWAY current 30 minute headway is terrible. At 30 minutes separating the buses, no wonder it is not busy. Want more to it, increase the headway. However, having pro-automobile councillors in Etobicoke, they don't have the incentive to improve any public transit services in Etobicoke, much less seeking rapid transit lines.

Had to hunt for information on the Sherway Gardens website for current information on public transit access. Found it at this link. Pathetic. (Still hunting for the bus stops on a map.)

Well there's the confirmation that we wouldnt be seeing any kind of extension here until at least 2040. And this is assuming everything goes to plan with funding, the Obico yard construction, and the line actually goes to Sherway and doesn't deviate due to some unknown random politician.

If any of the above go awry, this thing can easily get stretched out to the mid to late 2040s. On the extremely rare circumstance we get a government that loves to go on a public spending spree, it *could* get fast tracked to the late 2030s.
 
Very interesting find @Northern Light! Looking forward to subwaying to the area in, in, freakin' 2041, goshdarnit?! (I'll be very surprised if that extension is there by then, not that it shouldn't be, but it's good to see that steps are being taken, more so than simply reserving a right-of-way for it.
