Levitating a 50-storey tower above a stadium bowl full of empty space? Now we're talking! We need world-class Dubai-level engineering for that and a nice budget to boot. If only we had a boatload of dirty oil money that needed wastin'...

Demolish 50 Bay Street (15 floor, 144,964 sqft office) and replace using the same footprint with something in the 500,000sqft range. Arena seating doesn't go under that section, though the PATH, some entrances and stadium concourse do. They might reach ~1.2 million sqft by stretching the floorplate West to the Bremner property line and extend a couple meters over the arena and tracks.

Seems a practical project for the mid 2030's as the existing building is undersized for the location.

Drove past the arena last night on Bay and noticed construction workers on a lift examining the public art over the galleria entrance. Anyone else see any activity?

It's related to the pedestrian bridge to CIBC square work

I am looking forward to the black cladding being finished. The aluminium really cheapened the look of the building (and has been so overused in the city). Three sides of the stadium looked underwhelming at best, and cheap, at worst.
