Toronto Ryerson: Jarvis Street Residence | 97.53m | 30s | Toronto Metropolitan University | Arcadis

I do have some questions. The road is clearly closed off. I somehow doubt they did this without a permit and Traffic would have issued that permit. Would Traffic even issue one during allowable hours. Why do this in the dead of night?

Jarvis Street remained closed mid Sunday morning, despite work being completed by 11PM Saturday night and all the trucks gone. The submitted schedule probably called for staging (including the removal of the overhead lane signals) on Friday night, set-up Saturday morning, and take-down and the site cleared Sunday. But Reliance probably pulled a fast one, eager to minimize the crane costs.

Why did the paid-duty cops allow this to happen, though? Maybe because they were getting double time and a half, and the 3AM gravy train too good to put a stop to?

Indeed - does anyone not have the common sense to question whether one has the permit to do the work at 3am? It isn't like the York ramp demo where there is an established need and a special dispensation.

We are talking about Jarvis right? The same street where bike lanes were removed so people from midtown could get downtown fast. I'm not surprised they'd be in a rush to get this done.

Painting some refreshing blue on the skyline on a record hot day.

I could put these photos in any number of threads. Amazing how much work is taking place east of Yonge these days.
