Toronto Rogers Centre Renovations | ?m | ?s | Toronto Blue Jays | Populous

In the upper deck for the Jays vs Royals loss last night. Read after that attendance was around 27,000 in attendance which felt rather low for a Loonie dog Tuesday game

I am not surprised.

The on-field product this year is abysmal at best. Unless they have a team worth watching the attendance will continue to sink.

You can gussy up the stadium all you want but if the team makes the White Sox look good nobody will go to the games.

Another game today where this team can barely hit a beachball.

Disgraceful stuff.

Maybe too much time spent in the brand new players palace (clubhouse). What a waste of money.

The near future: Bettin' there will only be minor impacts on players... but John Schneider was seen at a local copy shop with his resume in hand.

I know it still has a lot of work to do on it(just clean the exterior please!), but can't deny that building has a lot of life left in it if its taken care of.

The stadium cost almost 600M (1989 dollars) to build - the notion of casually tearing it down when there still so much life left just does not compute.

100% agree! I also wonder if in the long term the design will come back in Vogue. Obviously its not beautiful like the old style of Camden and the like and certainly not as is, but people seem to be moving on from that 90's trend now with newer stadiums. Plus with some updates to the exterior, new windows, new canopies for the ground level, outdoor spaces, more trees would really change the vibe from the outside while keeping that iconic SkyDome look everyone has come to know since 1989.

I doubt it - the design issues are very real - but complaining about it and screaming for a new stadium instead of reuse and improve is redolent of first world problems.

"When teams start putting in premium seats everywhere, it's just a less enjoyable experience for the folks who are often the biggest fans and can't afford it."

Some valid points but I am also realistic about it. Its corporately owned, their goal is to make money. They don't have to cater to the masses, just the ones they know will pay for it.
