Clearly it needs to go back as a First Nations trail - strip away the asphalt and be as authentic as we can get.

I appreciate that people want to preserve the winding character of the street. But right now it looks like crappy patched asphalt in the photos in that article. And of course the residents on one hand are complaining that the street is a highway, but on the other hand claiming their street has a bucolic feel - which is it, folks? And of course they don't want sidewalks. Of course.

I believe the term you are looking for is heritage parkway. Because mansions along the FN trail is exactly how to respect the former. Let's ask them.

I was looking at Riverside Drive on Streetview. Lots of those meaningless "slow down - kids at play" lawn signs. I'm not sure how one logically puts up a lawn sign like that but opposes traffic calming and sidewalks.

Well, yes. The bike rack clearly detracts from the character, rhythm and overall setting of the area. Happily, the nearby benches, picnic tables and fire hydrants are all heritage structures themselves, so they fit in much more nicely with the cultural heritage landscape.

To be fair, they also opposed a splash pad because its blue umbrella "isn't even a heritage colour". But they also went ape-shit over a proposed homeless shelter, which I would argue that it respects the neighbourhoods heritage of being a historically poor community.
