The actual building is rather bland but they have done a stellar job in restoring the older building. It wasn't just an afterthought but a real effort to honour the original architecture and design that made it such a lovely old building in the first place. This is the model to go by and the standard that the City should demand from any other similar proposals.

And to think that when this project was first announced many lamented the demolition of the original structure.

Guys like Brookfield, Oxford, CF, and Allied, know what they are doing when it comes to preserving and retaining heritage structures in their development plans:cool:
..we must have more confidence with the legit developers when it comes to stuff like that, and i don't think many here have?

The Concourse Building demolition and facade retention remains controversial to many, and while I am okay with the loss of the building and very happy with the quality of the reconstructed elements, I'm not ready to hand any of the developers a blank cheque when it comes to heritage elements. Any redevelopment where there are heritage buildings to preserve or incorporate will continue to require a high degree of scrutiny to make sure we have the best outcome possible.

I'm glad that stalled on the first couple of attempts!

I was just in the lobby and while I was in a bit of a rush, I managed to take a few quick pics.

View to the right side of the lobby from the entrance:

A wider view towards the entrance and the corner at Adelaide and Sheppard:

On my way down the escalators to the PATH level:

Looking towards the PATH connection to 120 & 130 Adelaide. There is a change in grade with an accessibility elevator. The finishes in this new PATH area are definitely nicer than in the PATH portions of the rest of the Richmond Adelaide Centre:

I wasn't able to linger today, but I found the space to be quite impressive, with nice attention to detail.
