Toronto Richmond Adelaide Centre: EY Tower | 188.05m | 40s | Oxford Properties | Kohn Pedersen Fox

I took a close-up of the mosaic yesterday as well, but forgot to post. Here's a nice rainbow to brighten an otherwise grey day...

Getting torn down: best thing that ever happened to the Concourse Building?

42

No. Getting restored would have been. This was the next best option.

With inaccessible washrooms for the disabled, low height ceilings, lack of natural light and insufficient elevator space? Sometimes buildings are just old and need to be replaced.

In that era a lot of buildings were built with washrooms built 1/2 floor above/below the office. So guys would walk 1/2 flight up and women a 1/2 a flight down (or vice versa) to get to the washroom. 50% fewer washrooms. And 100% fewer disabled people needing access. Not acceptable now.

The do-over of the Concourse Building has turned out well but I don't understand the enthusiasm for the new tower. To me—chamfered corners and odd angles notwithstanding—it's a graceless, heavy lump.

Oh my!! Be still my rapidly palpitating heart!

Wonderful and beautifully well executed project! Boy, if only at least 25% of the projects in this city were anything close to the quality of this building.....
