Everything had to be redesigned for the development of the condo instead of the original hotel that was approved. Although the building envelope stayed the same as the hotel, only the first two levels will be kept from the hotel design. From the second floor up the entire building's structural and mechanical is different as the condo structure is not the same as the hotel structure and necessitated the construction of a massive transfer slab on the second level.. Purchasers were notified about the tentative occupancy.

Because of the extensive changes, new applications had to be submitted for rezoning and building. There are still more submissions of drawings that have to be made to the City of Toronto to complete the application process.

Yes, the sales were fast but no one should be under the mistaken impression that this was merely starting where one project left off.

Excerpt sent out to Tridel's Reve purchasers: Reve construction begins: "..we have received Formal Zoning Approval as of May 19, 2010. Now that zoning is in place we have acquired the Building Permit which allows us to officially start construction for your community."

This must be a record. I've never seen a building go up so fast. When they're done (next week?) they should send this crew over to the Charlie.
