Crazy but good, looks like the rooftop lighting at CityPlace now has been adopted across the street at Reve....Nice:cool:

WOW! I wasn't expecting that. I love all the new lighting with COLOUR!
 
I did notice the blue light at the top of that city place building looked great, however the light truned off around 2am ish not sure why.....
 
Sitting down the other day for wings night at the Wheat Sheaf patio and noticed that the Thompson Hotel residences have now also installed a nice blue LED rooftop lighting feature.:cool:
Definitely ...a new trend down there.

Both Reve and Thompson have had rooftop lighting for quite some time now.

The rooftop lighting at Rêve looks really sharp .... It was too bad Solaris didn't have rooftop lighting and TWMl noted it was because of LEED requirements, I really hope Tridel would really reconsider this @ Solaris

TWM .... is Rêve not a LEED certified building?
 
Reve is in the process of pursuing LEED certification. It's a lengthy process and we're probably looking at next year before we find out the certification level Reve will have achieved. All Tridel communities that under construction or are in preconstruction will seek LEED certification. The only exception is our Townhomes of Metrogate and Avonshire Parkside Townhomes which are being built to ENERGY STAR(R) standards.

Update - Walked by today and noticed that the sidewalk was properly repaired. (Sept 26, 2011)

It never seems to fail. (A universal mystery.)

Whenever new concrete/sidewalks/roads are finished, always, someone comes around and pokes a hole in it and fills it with something different.

It comes down to getting the necessary points to get LEED accreditation which is a very involved process. I'm not sure what decisions were made with regards to Reve and Solaris. They are also not comparable projects as Solaris is part of the Metrogate community which is a LEED Neighbourhood Development Pilot Project, subject to additional criteria.

Here's a formal reply from project management:

Metrogate as a whole is pursuing “GCT Credit 20” for the LEED ND (Neighborhood development) PILOT program governed by the USGBC and the design for Solaris does not allow for Mech roof light features. Reve on the other hand falls under an entirely different program that is governed by the CAGBC called LEED NC (New Construction) and their site boundaries are so tight that it would be impossible to achieve SS Credit 8 “Light Pollution reduction”, therefore Reve can be lit up in any fashion obviously pending the approval of the local authorities that have jurisdiction.

it is interesting to note that that LEED ND for Metrogate is anchored by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) whereas LEED NC is anchored by the Canada Green Building Council (CAGBC) .... would there be similar LEED ND criterias established by the Canadian arm of the Green Building Council organziation ?

LEED 2009 for Neighbourhood Development with Canadian Alternative Compliance Paths

The CaGBC has developed Canadian Alternative Compliance Paths (ACPs) for the LEED 2009 ND rating system. The ACPs are formally approved approaches that provide clarity and guidance for Canadian projects, addressing sections of the rating system that contain US-specific standards or wording. Canadian projects interested in pursuing LEED 2009 ND certification are encouraged to review these ACPs, and employ them as needed as part of the certification process. The ACPs have been embedded within the original LEED 2009 ND rating system, and can be viewed in draft form here:

Canadian project teams can immediately take advantage of the ACPs, as no technical content changes are anticipated.
