Toronto Quartz at Concord CityPlace | 131.97m | 41s | Concord Adex | RAW Design

Tuscani you can't be certain of that. Other developers could have placed bids... we aren't for sure.

There were 3 different plans for the site and none of them materialized. Canada Lands Co. owned all of the land at the time and eventually sold it to Concord Adex. It wasn't the city's decision.

Quartz and Spectra's flared roofs are looking good from a distance. I don't think any of us have quite got the perfect angle on the pair of them yet though. From Hanlan's on the 8th:

I noticed LED lights on this and Spectra whilst driving westbound last night - very underwhelming

They are doing "burn tests" on the LEDs at the top of Quartz and Spectra right now—this is not the final programming.

General consensus in CityPlace is that they look like bad Christmas lights. There have been some evenings with the programming running and its still underwhelming.

I am told that you're not seeing the final programming at all.

I appreciate a well lit roof but the lighting on this looks very amateurish. I'm glad to hear that what they have now is not the final product. It really does look like a simple Christmas display at a low end store.

Pics from the CN Tower on Oct 29th; the first is blurry, but you can see both towers. The second is better… but that's Spectra. I'll repeat that one in that thread, but it's here too to explain a bit better what's been installed.

Flew in on porter the other night during dense fog. These lights were the only thing visible. Even the cn tower was under fog. There were moments when the colour combinations were decent but a lot of bad combinations too.
I am typically a sucker for lights but I hope they refine these ones. The spacing of the lights is also a bit odd. Rather than being evenly distributed or in lines, diffused etc. It looked kind of like a LiteBrite peg board. Which could maybe be neat. But I am really just not a fan of RGB unless being used to create other colours

I finally saw these in person last night from the MGT. The programming had better be darn good to make up for the installation; as stjames said, it really does look like a cheap Lite Brite. It doesn't particularly fit in with the rest of CityPlace's lighting, either – it has a very different feel to it.

I think it's still going to look like Lite Brite, I don't think they'll get getting away from that. I don't see what's wrong with the Lite Brite pegboard look myself, I have fond childhood memories of those and no adulthood prejudices against them, but yes I am looking forward to seeing what the programming is.
