I checked out the NW part of this site where it is close to the Gardiner and Lake Shore. Since this area will have Tokyo style density, perhaps we can allow some commerical usages underneath the Gardiner like they have under freeways in Japan. It would provide services, cut off some of the noise from Lake Shore, and reduce the visibility and psychological barrier of the highway. In another thread that I can't find, someone posted some great photos of what they do in Japan underneath overpasses.

I think it was mentioned recently in the York Off-ramp thread, but this will be replaced with eastbound Lake Shore lanes once the curve from Harbour is removed and the Jarvis offramp is shortened (like York) to touch down at Yonge.

where does the north bound PATH lead to from this building complex? their design illustration shows a bridge of some sort that goes under Gardiner, wonder where that leads to.

Bay Park Centre actually has a small amount of frontage on Yonge St. between 18 Yonge and the rail corridor. It will connect there, bypassing 18 Yonge.

I had a tourist from Germany at my home in the summer and he did say " It looks as though many buildings have been built at the same time" which is true with our recent condo boom. Another visitor from Buffalo said that most of our new tower clusters are " ugly".

Buffalo, really? That's a bit rich! And most of Germany is pretty pedestrian.

Yup. Almost everything created can be dated to periods in times.

light coloured brick slabs ... 1960s
dark coloured brick slabs ... 1970s
green glass and metal spandrel ... early 2000s
grey on grey spandrel glass ... 2017

The German visitor's comments weren't disparaging. It's true: a lot of the towers in our skyline were built at the same time. That's not a bad thing.

It may well be a bad thing as they will become decrepit at the same time. And as the quality of construction is generally poor, that will likely happen sooner rather than later.
