Some concrete work at the pool needs attention. There was no steel rebar in this, and we found it smashed yesterday.

Grand opening of the Park on Saturday June 21st

Title: Official Opening - Regent Park
Location: Regent Park, 620 Dundas Street East
Date: Saturday, June 21
Time: 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm

The City of Toronto cordially invites you to the official opening of the 6-acre Regent Park.

On Saturday, June 21, Regent Park becomes THE MAGIC CITY – alive with pipes and horns, voices and drums, ice cream trucks and orchestras – all to celebrate the opening of Toronto’s newest City park.

Joining the festivities with local residents will be Councillor Pam McConnell and City staff, along with event partners Toronto Community Housing and The Daniels Corporation to celebrate the opening of the new park.

Entertainment for the celebration is directed by choreographer Bill Coleman of Coleman Lemieux & Compagnie, musical direction by John Oswald featuring the Toronto Symphony Orchestra with Maestro Bramwell Tovey, the Regent Park School of Music, Toronto Council Fire Native Cultural Centre, and performers ranging in age from 10 to 70 from the Regent Park community and beyond. Community performances are supported by Artscape and Daniels Spectrum.

The new park features a playground, splash pad, multi-purpose green space, a plaza for community events, a dog off-leash area, community gardens, a greenhouse, a bake oven, walkways and lush landscaping

Good news about the park finally opening. Anyone know if the Wednesday farmer's market across the street will be back this summer?

Yes - back every Wednesday from 330pm to 730pm starting on June 25th

These are a week late… but it's been a busy week.

These are shots from the opening of the park on June 21. It was, well, pretty great. Tons of people, as you'll see, kids going mental on the play equipment, a pile of performers of so many types, neighbourhood kids singing O Canada backed by the TSO (and more music from them besides), neighbourhood food vendors… I know it can't be this big all the time there, but the park should be programmed on a regular basis.

Looking forward to hearing how the community oven goes over - it wasn't quite ready.

The brick for the 180 Sackville Building was being delivered this morning.

It's a Watsontown Brick Company product - couldn't make out the exact colour and type - but I believe it's this

Not grey?!?!? A-mazing. Oh, wait...this isn't the WDL's so this makes perfect sense to have some colour in Regent Park :)

Took another look this morning and yes - that is the colour for the lower two levels.

The other brick (for the middle portion) has arrived as well - it's a General Shale prodruct - the colour is Chestnut Velour
