It's a shame the park fronts a runway with jets taking off above 100m away.

Why ? It'll offer amazing views of planes taking off ... most folks will enjoy that ...

I'm not being sarcastic ... if anything it'll make the park more popular. There are hundreds of quiet parks in Toronto.

I agree, on a summer day just check out any greenspace around YYZ and see how many plane worshipers are enjoying the event

+1! I love watching planes. It's part of urban theatre and it's free entertainment. I sometimes watch traffic on the DVP from my place lol:p

Why not build this here??

$60M theme park proposed for Toronto area
TORONTO - Developers say they expect a new Greater Toronto Area theme park designed to offer summer 365 days a year will be up and running by the fall of 2016.

The 9,300-square-metre attraction will offer sandy beaches, wave pools, cabanas, restaurants, lazy rivers, vendors and live entertainment.

Developers say the $60 million indoor/outdoor complex is designed to fill a void in the GTA's tourism market, and will be equipped with a retractable roof, allowing it to operate every day of the year.

Apart from the new Ripley's Aquarium, they point out that there haven't been any new attractions in the GTA since Canada's Wonderland 30 years ago.

The site of the massive complex is still undetermined, but has been narrowed to the three locations and developers of the MarbleLive project say they're in talks with officials in Mississauga and Toronto

The all-season, indoor/outdoor water park will bring significant employment opportunities to the GTA during the development stages of its creation. Once fully operational, the attraction will employ 230 full-time personnel and expects to attract over half a million visitors within its first year of operation

I saw this on the news tonight. Preliminary locations could include the Portlands or in Mississauga. The Ontario Place option is pretty much off the table because they want to start construction a year from now with completion for later in 2016 and apparently there are barriers to securing the needed space at Ontario Place. Ontario Place is the perfect fit, this is apparently the whole problem - making Ontario Place a year 'round destination. The Molson Amphitheatre could be retained along with the pods and Cinesphere, then they could put up their stupid condos at the west end as planned. How can Ontario Place not be the perfect location for this and how can the red tape not be cut to free up and sell that space in short order? This really makes me mad.

Is Ontario Place really the best fit for this? It may have a retractable roof, but it's still going to be a very large enclosed building.
