There's something very Romanesque about the current Grand. the jutting corners, the staircases wrapping around the outside, the fortified-looking entrance, the little turrent-thingys above the podium all remind me of a medieval castle or pre-Gothic cathedral. Is Romanesque brutalism a thing?

Maybe, there was an issue with the flight path

I think (but I don't have the docs in front of me) that the heights of it and Grid were limited by the flight path.

Very interesting! Kind of sad that the St Mikes east flight path will limit any redevelopment at Shuter and Poulett to 310 metres, so I'll have to let that dream go…

This is an emergency medical transport flight path. It has NOTHING to do with anything else, beautiful or otherwise.

Wouldn't the flight paths be adjusted once the St Mike's megatall goes up?
