Today they were starting to glaze the east side (Victoria Street) external walkway with the larger glass.

Personally, I would prefer 'Vision Glass' as opposed to plywood; which I don't think would be an improvement on the brick, personally.

I am still a bit puzzled why they did not seem to wash down the external brick and 'amazed' that they have not (yet?) cleaned the brick that is now inside the glazed 'walkways'.
