That is standard for any road or Hwy where traffic is not moving in that left lane at any on/off ramps. Seen drivers go beyond the n\end of those lanes to cut in. Those drivers need a big fine and loose a few points.
 
Sneaking around again. Only one truck driving around on site this morning at the Lake Shore Blvd Bridge.

Forcing me to keep taking pictures at range. How dare. I might need to dig my good camera out of storage if this keeps up.

I'm guessing this deviation from the straight road is intention along the westbound side of Lake Shore Blvd East. Maybe they are reducing the size of the center median

The road edge is where the medium is going in and it needs to be wide for the trees in it. You can see the westbound curb for the medium in your photos as that is what I have in mind.

Unusually to see someone working the site on a Sunday as I rarely saw anyone.

Getting the southside path to the Don Roadway stills need a lot of work as well for the full length of the northside.

From your photos, they have started building the north retraining wall for the bridge sidewalk as it was ready when I shot the site. after the sidewalk was pour.

They are digging a trench across the westbound lanes on the west side of the bridge that wasn't there when I shot it.

Eastern Lake Shore Blvd, north side, now has lamposts installed. They are installing on both sides of the treeline as well.

The signals have been there for several months - though maybe only the pedestrian crossing ones actually worked.

Absurdly wide roads. How many more years do we have to wait before Toronto stops building auto-centric infrastructure? For all the talk about urbanizing, pedestrianizing, and PT oriented development, this city still thinks and builds like it's 1970. This shouldn't be any more than 1 lane in each direction.

I understand that the median of Lake Shore from the Don River to Carlaw will have trees/plants - as it has a bit further east. I have asked Paula Fletcher's office what the City plans to do with the median immediately east of Carlaw where the Port Lands rail spur used to be. "They" have removed most of the rail but show no sign of actually fixing up the area (300 meters??) between Carlaw and opposite the Farm Boy.

Honestly, I doubt they are thinking that far ahead. Near the bridge, with the East Harbour Community Development planned on the north side and the McCleary District Development planned on the south side, I guess it doesn't make sense, other than to just wait 10 years or so and just bundle the extended work with those projects?

I had thought for years that they planned to put light rail all along this stretch. I guess the initial streetscape mockups had me fooled.

Tidying up the median where the rail line was is not a huge project and the area (it is only 300-400 meters long) is a mess 'sandwiched between' the new and, I assume, well done WT work just west of Carlaw and the older and' the 'acceptable' older median landscaping that starts at about the Farm Boy. There are no plans for any sort of light rail on Lake Shore East - though the median would certainly be a possible location for one.
