The pedestrian lights here are awful. They broadcast light everywhere, very inefficient and unattractive, far too many of them as well, as if someone were burning off budget.
Are you talking about those cool looking cylindrical ones that seem to come with with this tower...or the elder fashioned ones they erected at the end of the Triassic era?

The problem here is not they cylindrical or black, that's all well and good.

The problems are the way in which they direct light (it should always be pointed down, unless you're intentionally uplighting something); there are too many of them, too close together, and they are too tall.

You don't want to light up the sky, that's wasted energy, and bad for wildlife and has no safety value. You want the light, generally, within about 8ft of grade (when over a sidewalk or path), for roads, you typically want higher to allow for truck clearance.

Now that I'm looking at my screenshot in this post............I also dislike the exposed concrete seating, cap it with limestone or granite, that would be much nicer. Or use more conventional benches with backrests.
