Toronto King Blue by Greenland | 155.75m | 48s | Greenland | Arcadis

Wow, so the owner took this proposal through the development process, and is now gonna sell the site approved for the 47 & 42 Stories. Will likely make a massive profit, and the old building will still not be preserved.

Caltrane, you were right on a massive profit...wow, 70 million bucks just for the property.
This is big news and a W hotel would be a great addition to the area.

tweeted by @Urbanation this morning....Easton will now be partnering with Remington Group...looks like it will be a mixed use project....

"As we reported on Dec 1, Easton Group purchased 355 King - Remington to partner, bringing residential experience."

This proposal now has its date with the Committee of Adjustments on February 22 at 1:30 PM. As indicated below, it will now include hotel and associated amenity space.

To modify the redevelopment plan approved under Site Specific By-law 1041-2010, as follows: to construct two
residential towers (a south 44-storey building with an eight-storey podium and a north 48-storey building with a
seven-storey podium); to alter the building envelope; to replace a portion of the residential component in the north
podium with a 132-room hotel and associated amenities; and to provide visitor bicycle parking spaces at grade
and on P2 level.

The north tower would be 48 storeys and incorporate the hotel portion. The total height proposed would be 155.8 metres. The south tower (on Blue Jays Way) would be 140.3 metres. and 44 floors in height. The design may have been modified.

From the looks of it, only the facade of Westinghouse building would be maintained.

Launching in March?

But Gupta isn’t leaving his home base behind. In March, he will start pre-selling a new development in Toronto’s entertainment district after winning what he calls “the most competitive bid of his career†late last year. The site will include two condos, a hotel and retail units. “I want to create a small Yorkville atmosphere there,†he says, referring to one of Toronto’s toniest shopping enclaves. Later this spring, he also hopes to get approval for another project at the location of his existing Comfort Suites hotel at Dundas and Jarvis Streets. Both developments could profitably expand his Toronto holdings. “There is a huge opportunity here,†he says, “if it’s done right.â€

Thanks for the link. With so many condos in the ED, it's nice to see a new development featuring some more mixed-usage. Hopefully there's a good amount and sizable retail units too.

Also great to hear that Easton Group is taking initiative in revitalizing a rugged part of the eastside with their future 200 Jarvis project.

Only if your idea of "entertainment" is dancing to Top 40 hits with scores of Jersey Shore wannabes.

It isn't, but an Entertainment district should cater to whatever type of entertainment different people like..

Cities like Montreal have a good reputation (I personally find it overrated) for just that type of entertainment you just named.

Some people don't like clubs. Personally, they aren't my cup of tea either, but they do serve a purpose and there's no point calling something the "Entertainment District" when all there is are a bunch of glass condo towers for people richer than those who would go to these bars/clubs. It'll turn into a dead zone and Toronto will go right back to the reputation of being a boring city.

It's not gonna dissappear, it's just gonna keep shifting west of spadina. People aren't just gonna all of a sudden decide to stop going out and partying... especially young professionals with money that are moving downtown
