That building is something OCAP leaders bring up a lot. It was a rooming house until about a decade ago when the owner decided the land was worth more than the building and it has been sitting abandoned since. Basically one of the prime examples of why uncontrolled gentrification is terrible for a neighbourhood. I certainly don't see any reason this building should sit abandoned and rotting but for the greed of the owners. Even if they don't want to run a rooming house or apartment (which is their right) their holding on to this site in the hope the land value will continue to rise and the heritage building will rot and collapse is just disgusting imo, for a variety of reasons.
