Half of City Council was loudly in favour of a grand Lakeshore Boulevard in the East end to replace the Gardiner. Well, they have the West Lakeshore with no Gardiner above it and it runs right alongside the water. This is their opportunity to put our money where their mouth is.

Just as you said, they can build wide sidewalks on both sides with a buffer of trees. Then zone it for low rise buildings with restaurants in the podiums and patios in front. The speed limit on Lakeshore is already low at 60km/hr yet it feels like a highway because it's not at all pedestrian friendly.

While Queens Quay ends at Stadium Road, they could continue that public realm treatment up Bathurst and then along Lakeshore to at least Ontario Place.

yes, the land is there, but there aren't any developers bribing the councillors to do anything in the west. After all, grand balvd is important, but land for condos are more important.

It's not even built yet and I'm already looking forward to it being torn down. What a disappointment.

When is it scheduled to be town down so I can mark that in my calendar?

I definitely wish it was more iconic for such a prominent location but whats done is done...

Will it at least be a quality Hotel? An unknown X does nothing for my confidence in this being a quality place to stay...

This building will be the 2015 version of the old Holiday Inn on King (now the Hyatt). New tall buildings will be approved nearby solely for the benefit of blocking it from view.

It's hideous. A squat, stodgy, ungainly thing that's all too conspicuous, thanks to its location. What a colossal failure of imagination. Is it better than a parking lot? I don't know. It sure could have had a whole lot more pizazz. A banal, barfed-out edifice.

That ghastly podium actually makes the tower look somewhat acceptable.
