Only comment is that once this is finished, Harris Square will essentially be ringed by black/dark grey (though attractive) buildings- I hope that the retail can prevent it from feeling too dark and monochromatic.

It would help to liven things up if this building had some retail at the base. I am not enjoying the actual Harris square. Those grey pebbles just don't work for me at all. I would have much preferred a Berczy Park paving treatment here!

Even if they'd used reddish-brown gravel for Harris Square it would feel more inviting.

Austere, washed-out, dystopian renderings are still de-rigeur for architects.

Unfortunately for us, these "visions" produce austere, washed out dystopian cityscapes when they are realized. See West Donlands as exhibit A.

The buildings of West Donlands may be largely monochrome, but the area is anything but "dystopian" -- it's some of the better city-building around, with broad plazas that include lively public art, flourishing trees, and a huge innovative park just to the east. It's certainly incomplete, but as it fills in (including Harris Square), it will be an inviting and energetic place.

I think that has more to do with the landscape and planning efforts involved. The architecture (save for that of S&P) is mostly clunky, uninspired and depressing. And yes, even S&P's is monochromatic.

Underpass Park could be pretty grim with this building blocking light from the south - was there a couple of hours ago and even with existing conditions it's pretty dim. A shame the City couldn't get that plot and form a continuation between LHSquare and UPark, I think.

Dystopian or not, Underpass Park is constantly attracting photoshoots, people doing car videos and so on. And I received a Uniqlo flyer a while back and recognized the background there. Don't mind having this in my neighbourhood at all.

Really do love the ground floor treatment here; almost the polar opposite to the too-prevalent trend of continuous, blank, unanimated grade curtainwall.
