Toronto GO Transit: Davenport Diamond Grade Separation | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

The other wrinkle with the Bloor/Lansdowne station is that Metrolinx is funding new stations based on value capture from new developments near station locations. It's not clear whether this model will work for stations in areas that are largely built out vs. suburban greenfield locations. There is certainly some potential for new density near the station (e.g., Value Village), but it may not be enough to fund the station.

^It's fair to say that this station will not be advanced until the Davenport Diamond is much further along. Until the line is electrified - and that's still out there in limbo - I can't see it being advanced at all.

At best it was a carrot thrown out during the effort to sell the overpass to the community. Whether it ever comes to be is a different matter.

I'd hope that the obvious desirability of a transfer option to the Bloor subway will keep it on the agenda.
After all, there will be transfer options to the other major transit lines that it crosses, at Downsview and at Caledonia

There's quite a few spots I could see being redeveloped right around Lansdowne and Bloor. That whole triangle from Bloor to College/Dundas is ripe for new builds.

I expect that the whole Wade / Jenet / Paton area will re-develop over time. Already starting with 77 Wade.

Sterling Rd is in the process of complete commercial / residential transformation. It would be one of the access points to the station (the station is to be on the south side of Bloor).

Plenty of other commercial/industrial properties right along the tracks there too, along St. Helens / Dora / Dublin.

Seems like such a good spot overall for increased commercial and residential density, especially if transit connectivity can be built up on what's already there.

Excavation nearly complete up to Antler:

From a MX newsletter last week:

As part of the construction of the Davenport Diamond Grade Separation project, there are ongoing construction activities in the area. Please see below for a recap of activities
  • Our constructor is installing a temporary shoring wall as a part of initial construction work. This wall will support the diversion track which is constructed next to the open excavated pit. The construction will take place within the rail corridor between the CP rail corridor and Davenport Road. Crews will be working in the corridor from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays.
More information can be found here.
  • Our constructor will also be temporarily relocating the signal structures at Wallace Avenue and the GO tracks. These signal structures will be moved not far from their current locations to align with the temporary diversion track and allow for guideway construction. The work is scheduled to start in late June and last for approximately two weeks. This work will take place daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. One overnight shift is scheduled to take place Friday, July 4 to Saturday, July 5. Work will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday and last until the late morning on Saturday.

    More information is available here.
